friendly & compassionate

The Maui Veterinary Clinic was the first fully operational veterinary facility on Maui. The clinic was opened by Dr. Clarence Ching, and has been around for over 50 years. In fact, we happily treat third and fourth generation family members of some of the original clients from the clinic’s earliest days. The clinic has gone through many changes over the years, and many different locations. One of our more iconic locations was a small building located across the street from Costco, where the new Marriott Courtyard Hotel now stands. In 1983, the clinic was the first new building in Wailuku’s Millyard subdivision, and in 2010 we moved to our current location, a brand new state of the art facility just around the corner from its previous site. The Millyard is centrally located and offers easy access and plenty of parking. Stop by and ask for a tour!

our team

Dr. Wayne Kot joined the team at the Maui Veterinary Clinic in 1998, and in 2000, Dr. Kot and his wife Leslie acquired the clinic and took over full operation. Since 2000, with the help of a competent and dedicated staff, the Maui Veterinary Clinic has continued to grow and evolve into Maui’s premier veterinary facility.

our experience

Dr. Kot obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1995. He also holds advanced degrees in Biochemistry, Wildlife Biology and Commerce. Before pursuing veterinary medicine, Dr. Kot ran a biochemical research laboratory. His passion for research followed him into veterinary medicine where he has published papers on canine and feline neuro-anatomy. In addition to general practice, Dr. Kot enjoys a passion for general and orthopedic surgery.

services for a happy & healthy pet

We offer an extensive array of diagnostic services with industry leading technology and equipment.

pet wellness

Prevention is the best medicine. We will help you keep your pet healthy through routine physical exams that are far from routine. With direct consultation and regular examinations, we can help prevent many common illnesses. Regular health testing can identify underlying medical conditions, which, if detected early, can be successfully treated. Let our dedicated staff and extensive product line be your partners in preventative pet healthcare.

internal medicine

The Maui Veterinary Clinic offers a comprehensive array of on-site, in-house laboratory diagnostic testing which includes biochemical assays, blood profiles and clotting factor analysis. Our new state of the art Digital Radiograph machine provides stunning detail, and it allows us to directly communicate with Board Certified Radiologists on the mainland. Our computerized EKG, blood pressure, and blood gas analysis machines allow us to closely monitor the health and progress of your pet. In addition to our extensive on-site capabilities, we also have access to the finest diagnostic laboratories and specialists throughout the country.

surgical

Our expansive self-contained surgical suite was specifically designed for a wide range of complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Regardless of whether your pet undergoes a routine surgical procedure such as a simple wound repair, a complex mass removal, or an orthopedic reconstruction, your pet will receive extensive individualized surgical monitoring by our professionally trained staff. The Maui Veterinary Clinic uses industry-leading anesthetic protocols and equipment. We closely monitor each surgical patient using an appropriate combination of EKG, pulse oximetry, and respiratory and blood pressure monitoring. We treat every surgical patient as if they were a member of our own family. While under our care, your pet will receive comprehensive high quality personalized attention. Your best friend will never be part of a mass surgical campaign in our facility.

dental

We strongly recommend routine preventative dental care, which is why we offer a full line of non-invasive preventative products. These include various toothpastes, chew treats, and herbal remedies to help keep your pet’s teeth white and their breath fresh. We advocate what we call the dental trilogy:

1. Brush your pet’s teeth as often as possible—daily is best.

2. Use a product that helps to soften tartar and prevent buildup.

3. Offer chew treats or toys that help to mechanically remove any buildup of dental calculus. Apples and carrots work well and taste great.

In some cases, despite the owner’s best intentions, pets still develop tartar buildup, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. The Maui Veterinary Clinic has a dental suite that was specially designed to perform routine dental cleanings as well as complex dental procedures, extractions and oral surgeries. Good dental health is the easiest way to add years to your pet’s life. Stop by and let us show you how.

hospitalization

In the unfortunate event that your pet requires hospitalization, you can rest assured that they will be professionally cared for by our competent and caring staff. The Maui Veterinary Clinic has been designed to provide state of the art species specific hospitalization facilities. These include a separate isolation ward, a centrally located intensive care unit, and individualized canine and feline hospital wards. Our hospital is designed to provide a safe and stress-free environment for your best friend in his time of need.
